Good!
Bumpy-wumpy!
Exterminate!
There’s something about a good heist story that always gets the blood pumping. The ticking clock, the clever twists, the high-stakes tension. Throw in time travel and Doctor Who’s trademark weirdness, and you’ve got Time Heist – a bold, glossy episode that, for me, hit all the right notes.
Let’s just get one thing out of the way first, Keeley Hawes is hot, and having her strut around in her glasses as the icy Ms Delphox definitely didn't hurt my enjoyment levels of Time Heist, she makes a bloody good Doctor Who villain as well!
It has made me want to watch Ashes to Ashes and Life on Mars again now. The Master and Ms Delphox fighting crime with the Gene Genie!

The story itself felt new and fresh, and I admire all the Doctor Who writers throughout the shows history for still telling new stories in a show that is so old!
The mysterious setup, with the Doctor and Clara waking up with wiped memories, gave the whole thing a snappy, modern feel. And I was totally on board from the get-go.
"It’s just a phone, Clara. Nothing happens when you answer a phone."
Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman continue to shine. They’ve got such great chemistry, and their back-and-forth banter is sharp, dry, and often hilarious. Capaldi’s Doctor is colder than his recent predecessors, but that just makes his little moments of warmth and wit stand out more. I'll say it a million times as well - he's the funniest Doctor we have had. And Clara? She holds her own brilliantly - calm, clever, and never just a tag-along.

I’ll admit, the emotional bits with Psi and Saibra didn’t really land for me. It’s not the episode’s fault really, I just don’t often connect emotionally with one-off characters. I appreciated the effort and the performances were solid, but nah, not for me! Still, it didn’t take away from the fun of the episode overall.
Series 8 has been a really strong run so far, and Time Heist is another cool entry in Capaldi’s first season. It’s one of those episodes that reminds you just how versatile this show can be. One week it's horror, the next it’s hard sci-fi, and now we’ve got a space-age Ocean’s Eleven.
"There are so many memories in here. Feast on them! Tuck in! Big scarf. Bow tie, bit embarrassing. What do you think of the new look? I was hoping for minimalism, but I think I came out with magician."
Slick, smart, and just the right level of strange, Time Heist might not be the most emotionally powerful episode of Doctor Who, but I had a bloody good time - and sometimes, that’s exactly all Doctor Who needs to be.
