I had a feeling it would be, but I can now confirm, this was a very fun episode. This series has been insanely good!
One thing I have noticed since watching the episode is a few people saying they were uncomfortable with the messaging. Doctor Who really can never win can it?! One minute it's too political, the next it's not political enough. More people should just enjoy it for what it is - a camp sci-fi show at a camp song contest show, with bloody Rylan - and it's a lot of fun!
The Mrs Flood reveal - meh! That was not an RTD banger reveal. I’m thinking the Daleks in Army of Ghosts, the Master in Utopia, Bad Wolf everywhere in Turn Left, they were so dramatic, so amazing, this just left me with a slight shrug of the shoulders. Perhaps my lack of Rani knowledge is the reason for this - but I have seen Dimensions in Time and bits of Time and the Rani, and it's not good!! I will say I loved the dynamic between Anita Dobson and Archie Panjabi though, they look like they may be a fun pairing!
Mrs Flood has gone on so long now, so I think at last we will finally see some fireworks!
"Oh, we are so staying."
The other reveal was slightly less expected, and it was also kind of weird. Last series we had a number of Susan mentions, then this series it all went away. Now, I'm not complaining, it just was a shock, I thought that ship had sailed. Will Susan play a bigger part? Are there more surprises to come? Has Russell given us what we thought would come only to hit us with another surprise at the end of Wish World?

I've not really mentioned the actual episode yet have I? The meat and bones of it if you will. Well I think Juno Dawson has given us a brilliant episode, and she's also given us another fuck off dark moment for the Fifteenth Doctor. So let's start with Ncuti shall we? I don't really need to say too much, he really has been phenomenal, I've really enjoyed the Doctor losing his shit of late. He plays it well. Doctor Who is so much better when the Doctor is both wonderful and an angry fucker at the same time.
"I've never seen him like this before, and trust me, if he's angry, this whole world is going to shake."
This episode gave us so much. We had fun, camp, we had an angry Doctor, we had Mike and Gary, the Rani, Susan Foreman, Mrs Flood, a persecuted planet and it's people, we had songs, and Dugga Doo, honey, honey flavour, a Graham Norton hologram, and we had Rylan. I mean that's a fucking lot!
I was gripped, as I have been all series. It looked bloody amazing as well. The scene when everyone was sucked into space? Wow!
One thing that I still think is lacking in Ncuti’s reign is the villains. We have had some good ones yes, but has he got to face an all timer yet? Every Doctor has faced off against the Daleks, a few have had the Weeping Angels, most have had the Cybermen and or Master/Missy. Ncuti has had:
Goblins - harmless, nothing special;
Bogeyman - made of bogeys;
Maestro - very good, could do with more;
Ambulances - not really a villain as such;
A woman - creepy, but was Ruby and a one off;
Slugs - not the real villain;
Birds - not a fan at all. Cosplaying?! Hmm!
Sutekh - potential to be good, but easily defeated. Killed too many people if anything, was always going to be undone;
A briefcase - see ambulances;
Al - had his moments, but episode was more about Belinda;
Lux - see Maestro;
Midnight Entity - creepy, but a random monster to return to. Very good though;
Conrad - really good villain, but just a bloke;
The Barber - had potential but was given a barbers by the bloke he kidnapped at end;
Kid - was alright, but nothing special, similar to Kerblam hater in a way.
Now Maestro and Lux were very interesting, and a couple of others were decent one time villains, but I still think he needs a better quality of villain. Kid wasn't exactly top tier. That's nothing against the actor, we have seen a pissed off bloke being a dick a fair few times before though.
"I suppose I should think of some famous last words? How about...let battle begin."
Maybe Panjabi, Dobson and I assume Hauer-King will form a fucked up dream team. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

We are being served up some amazing Doccy Who at the moment, I'm going to be so sad when this series ends. Will it be the end for a while? Who knows, but I certainly think this series has proved Doctor Who still has a lot of life in it yet!
Now get me on Wish World and give me series 16 please.
